Bunratty castle and Folk Park

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is just a short drive from the Greenhills Hotel out the M7 motorway. This scenic medieval castle is one of the finest examples in all of Europe. Bunratty Castle was first built in 1425 by the MacNamara family and was restored to its current state starting in 1945 and being opened to the public in 1962.

Within the grounds of Bunratty Castle is Bunratty Folk Park  a wonderful representation of 19th century Irish village. The village includes a School, Doctor’s house, Pawnbrokers, Pub, Drapery, Printworks, Grocery, Hardware shop, Pottery and a Post Office.  MacNamara and Sons is a fully operational pub at the top of the village street for guests to enjoy a refreshing pint.
