Shannon Airport opened in 1945 and is the most westerly Airport in Europe. The Airport is extremely popular receiving 1.6 million passengers in 2014 and a further 1.7 million expected for 2015. Shannon Airport is the first Airport outside of the United States to offer full preclearance faculties to passengers travelling to the United States. The Preclearance faculties allow all us bound passengers to commence all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections at Shannon airport prior to departure. The main bus service in Ireland is Bus Eireann. Bus Eireann run a bus service to and from Shannon Airport to limerick city approximately every 30 minutes. This bus service stops conveniently directly outside the Greenhills hotel on the Ennis Road, an adult return ticket from Shannon Airport to the Greenhills hotel is €6.08.
